Pompeo will likely face questions about last month's surprise announcement that US troops would soon leave northeastern Syria, where they help battle remnants of the Islamic State group.

Possible steps towards an Arab re-engagement of Syria are likely to be discussed by senior Arab officials with the visiting U.S. secretary of state this week, given the firm position that Washington has been taking against the re-engagement of the Al-Assad regime.

Turkey considers the PYD/YPG as the Syrian offshoot of the PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by both Ankara and Washington.

It also reiterated that the U.S. withdrawal would be "deliberate and orderly", but USA officials did not present any operational information or discuss a timetable or post-pullout planning during Tuesday's two-hour meeting at the presidential palace, a Turkish official told MEE, speaking on condition of anonymity due to government protocol. Indeed, not long after he'd touched down, Erdogan canceled his meeting with the American envoy, branding Bolton's comments about preconditions for a United States withdrawal "a serious mistake".

Turkish officials attending the talks were led by Ibrahim Kalin, the spokesperson for the Turkish presidency. Pompeo's first message to the Jordanian foreign minister was one he is expected to echo across the region: Washington is committed to isolating and restraining Iranian expansion. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said releasing the fighters, among them Europeans and some United States citizens, would be "unacceptable" since they could simply rejoin the remnants of IS fighters in Syria or elsewhere. It has threatened to launch operations across the Euphrates into areas now under the control of the YPG and its allies.

France's Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian has pledged to withdraw French troops from Syria as soon as "a political solution" is clinched.

"We will be leaving at a proper pace while at the same time continuing to fight ISIS and doing all else that is prudent and necessary!"

"Any place we find extremists and terrorists, we're prepared to support whatever country is ready to go after them", he said. "We'll make sure we address the concerns that they have".

Israel's nightmare is a unified Syrian regime, backed by Russian Federation and Iran, fortified by Turkey, eager to turn their collective attention on his Jewish state.

John Bercow blasted by Tory Brexiters as Theresa May suffers another defeat
Some investors and major banks believe May's deal will be defeated on Tuesday but that eventually it will be approved. But without the DUP's support, and with many of May's Conservative MP still strongly opposed, the deal can not pass.

US Open champion Naomi Osaka is at four while Sloane Stephens , who also slumped out of Sydney early, is at five. The supporter responded: 'Just seeing you out on court today was more than enough entertainment for me.

Fourthly, the official also made clear that the U.S. would pursue the withdrawal of Iranian-backed forces from Syria and a political solution in Syria.

The same Arab source said that Egypt, recently expanding the scope of its ties with Syria, has been consulting with Kuwait to start the diplomatic momentum to re-integrate Syria back into the Arab fold.

The base, which is close to the Iraqi and Jordanian borders, is considered as a significant leverage against pro-Assad and Iranian forces in the area. An appropriate disposition of those prisoners is a top priority, the official said. The Turkish strong man obviously understands it, or he wouldn't have treated Bolton as he did.

An SDF official said: "Due to a smart missile attack by ISIS, a fighter of the YPG was killed and another wounded, in addition to two British soldiers". "We won't be finally pulled out, until ISIS is gone". We've taken back the land.

There are other signs in the Turkish media suggesting that an agreement on Manbij is likely.

USA officials had said the two were expected to have consultations on Tuesday about the fate of Kurds allied with the Syria as part of discussions about Trump's troop draw-down.

Answering a question on whether he wants USA troops to stay, President Salih said: "We will need the support of the U.S".

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan contends the Syrian Kurds have links to Kurdish separatist forces inside Turkey that have long battled the central government.

However, Mr Pompeo said Mr Erdogan had given assurances over the Syrian Kurds and added that the United States withdrawal plan was intact. Although the withdrawal was a tactically questionable choice, the Trump administration did ultimately make the best legal choice.
