"With the launch of IMDb Freedive, they can now also watch full-length movies and TV shows on IMDb and all Amazon Fire TV devices for free", IMDb Chief Executive Col Needham said in a statement.

IMDb Freedive is available beginning today at www.imdb.com/freedive, on IMDb's website via laptop or personal computer and on Fire TV devices. Many of these free services also license the same non-exclusive content, making it that much harder.

IMDb Freedive offers a variety of content, spanning film and television, at no cost.

What just happened? Following long-running rumors that it was working on the service, the Amazon-owned movie database site IMDb has finally launched Freedive, a free, ad-supported streaming platform. Movies on the service include "Awakenings", "A Few Good Men", "Adaptation", "Drive", "Foxcatcher", "Gattaca", "Memento", "Monster", "Run Lola Run", "The Illusionist", "The Last Samurai", "True Romance" and Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris".

There are over 130 movies available to watch, and 29 different TV shows to chose from.
