Teen crashes in Layton while doing 'Bird Box' Challenge

The challenge urges people to do daily and potentially harmful tasks with their eyes covered, as an homage to the Netflix movie "Bird Box". But she may face reckless driving charges after she and a 16 year-old passenger allegedly pulled their beanies over their eyes and attempted to drive down a local highway.

Police suspect that a recent viral challenge inspired by the popular Netflix horror movie Bird Box was responsible for a auto accident on Monday.

A blindfolded teenage driver in Utah crashed into another vehicle for obvious reasons on Monday, according to the Layton Police Department.

For those that are unfamiliar with the concept, the challenge stems from the film as some people have decided that they should wear blindfolds and navigate their way around the world.

The "Bird Box Challenge" takes its name from a recent Netflix movie "Bird Box", in which the characters must remain blindfolded.

The driver veered into oncoming traffic and struck a passenger vehicle.
