Investigators believe Patterson broke into James and Denise Closs' home near Barron on October 15, killed the couple and abducted their daughter.
A panicked 911 call was made that night, with frantic movement heard, but no words audible.
Authorities have said they don't believe Patterson crossed paths with Jayme's parents there.
Jayme was rescued Thursday while walking down a road in Gordon, Wisconsin in frigid weather without a coat and gloves.
For months they had been praying Jayme was safe and would return home to her friends and family.
"We believe Jayme was the target, and he was getting rid of possible barriers to taking her", Fitzgerald said.
