'It's show time': Apple confirms launch event on March 25

Apple confirms 'It's show time' event on 25 March, to likely launch a TV subscription service

Timing is reportedly tight.

The company has placed an event invitation on its website with the tagline "It's showtime", leading many to speculate that it refers to the company's upcoming TV streamer, for which the company has ordered titles from the likes of Reese Witherspoon and Steven Spielberg. The process has worked out well for Apple Music. Apple often launches products and services in the weeks following an event.

BuzzFeed News reporter John Paczkowski points out that Apple also used the slogan for a 2006 event to preview Apple TV. According to Daniel Ives, an analyst with securities house Wedbush, Apple could end up grossing an additional $7 billion to $10 billion in annual revenue from the service if it can get 100 million people to subscribe.

"We will participate in the original content world", Cook said while discussing Apple's plans for video content including a partnership with Oprah Winfrey.

Apple has announced that its next special event will take on 25 March. Along with services for TV (which is expected to launch later in this year), Apple is also being speculated to come with its Apple News subscription service.

Apple aims to bring together its own shows into one central location with content from media companies, saving iPhone and other Apple device users from having to juggle multiple apps for those channels, sources earlier told Reuters. With so many Apple TV and iPhones out there, Apple may have an opening.

We are also expecting Apple to introduce some hardware at the March 25th event including the AirPods 2.
