Former El Paso Congressman and failed senatorial candidate Beto O'Rourke has officially made the announcement: he's running for president in 2020.

O'Rourke became a national star during his 2018 Senate bid a year ago, despite the fact that he was defeated by incumbent Ted Cruz.
"They will either consume us, or they will afford us the greatest opportunity to unleash the genius of the United States of America", he added.
O'Rourke joined what is shaping up to be a diverse Democratic field that includes senators Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Kirsten Gillibrand and Cory Booker, and Hawaii Representative Tulsi Gabbard.
