Why signing Earl Thomas will save the Ravens’ defense in 2019

NFL Rumors: Earl Thomas, Mark Ingram Going To Ravens As Part Of New-Look Core

Reports: Safety Earl Thomas lands with Ravens, not Browns

The Baltimore Ravens announced Wednesday that they agreed to terms with former Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas and former New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram.

Thomas intends to sign a four-year, $55 million contract with the Ravens, a league source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Thomas' 2018 season ended on September 30 when he broke his left leg.

On Wednesday, despite his rocky tenure with the Seahawks, Thomas wrote on Twitter: "Thank you Seattle for the love and memories that my family and I will never forget".

Sharing the workload with fellow running back Alvin Kamara the last two seasons, Ingram finished 2018 with 138 carries for 645 yards, averaging 4.7 yards per carry and six touchdowns.

I don't like it, since I now work with an NFL agent group, but I understand where NFL GMs are coming from in their general approach to older players such as Michael Bennett, Danny Amendola, Eric Weddle and Terrell Suggs who are signing shorter deals (mostly for two years with low guaranteed money).

He wanted to sign with the Dallas Cowboys.

Walking through the Reagan National Airport in D.C., Dawson confirmed the news for a TMZ cameraman as she laughed and blushed. They then brought up Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez's recent engagement and asked if she saw herself getting engaged soon.

"Earl Thomas is arguably the best safety of his generation", Long said.

The Kansas City Chiefs have released safety Eric Berry.

Thomas, 29, arrives after a nine-year run with Seattle.

Rumors circulated Tuesday night that Thomas was talking with the Cleveland Browns.

Thomas will look to carry on the legacy of great safeties to play on the back end of the Ravens defense.

Thomas was a first-team All-Pro pick three times. Five years younger than Weddle, Thomas is an established player still in his prime, giving him a chance to be one of the team's defensive leaders for years to come. He returned before regular season started and posted three interceptions in the first four games before suffering a season-ending broken leg.

Barring a major move, that could be how Seattle enters the 2019 season with Thomas finally, officially, out the door, having found a new home nearly as far away from Seattle as could be.
