Coroner says 'Young and Restless' star died of heart disease

The official ruling is that St. John's death was caused by a combination of an accidental alcohol overdose and "hypertrophic heart disease".

Kristoff St. John died from heart disease, and accidental alcohol overdose. according to a report from the L.A. coroner's office. The disease reportedly causes difficulty in terms of the heart trying to pump blood.

Hypertrophic heart disease is a condition that often goes undiagnosed. Although there weren't any signs of foul play, one source apparently suggested that alcohol could have played a role.

The 52-year-old, best known for his role as Neil Winters on the long-running soap opera, died on February 3 in California.

While police and paramedics responded to his home, St. John was pronounced dead at the scene. The death of our beloved son, Julian, has taken a toll on both of us.
