Organisers said they plan to "non-violently disrupt Tube services to highlight the emergency of ecological collapse".

The protests, led by British climate group Extinction Rebellion, brought parts of central London to a standstill on Tuesday.

A man dressed in a dark suit and a woman wearing a black jacket stood on the roof of a train at the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in Canary Wharf, holding a banner which read: "Climate Emergency".

Travel disruption has been reported at a busy commuter station in London as a third consecutive day of protesting over climate change has got underway.

The protests were organised by the campaign group Extinction Rebellion, which was established past year in Britain by academics and has become one of the world's fastest-growing environmental movements.

"Intentional arrests for criminal damage allow Extinction Rebellion to take this core strategy into the courts", the group said in a statement on Monday.

The protesters want the Labour leader - who lives in Islington, north London - to commit to tackling climate change.
