Under a plea deal with prosecutors, which saw Huffman plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud, the actress faces the prospect of four months in jail although the judge has warned the penalty could be more severe.
The "Desperate Housewives" star was accused of paying $15,000 to increase her oldest daughter's SAT scores.
Huffman officially pled guilty on Monday, but she's been careful to take ownership of her blame and cooperate from the start. In addition to possible prison time, Huffman is facing a year of supervised release and a fine up to $20,000.
Sentencing is set for September 13.
In April, Huffman issued a statement apologizing for her actions.
"I am pleading guilty to the charge brought against me by the United States Attorney's office", Huffman said in a statement released last month.
Singer recorded a number of conversations in which he and wealthy parents discussed these schemes, including a conversation with Huffman.

She is married to William H. Macy, 69, star of the television show "Shameless" and numerous Hollywood films including Fargo. The money was disguised as a donation to Singer's charitable foundation, prosecutors said.
William (Rick) Singer, a California college admissions consultant, pleaded guilty in March to charges that he facilitated the cheating and helped bribe university sports coaches to present clients' children as fake athletic recruits. The mother-of-two fraudulently had someone take her daughter's SATs in order for her to receive a high score and be accepted into university. "I am in full acceptance of my guilt, and with deep regret and shame over what I have done, I accept full responsibility for my actions and will accept consequences that stem from those actions".
For reasons that remain unclear, Macy has not been charged. The couple also considered using Singer's services for their younger daughter, but ultimately opted not to, according to a criminal complaint.
Some parents have made a decision to fight the charges.
Sloane, the water systems executive, paid Singer and an alleged accomplice $250,000 to ensure that Sloane's son, who attended the Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, was admitted to USC as a recruited water polo player. Then, 12 other parents also said they would plead guilty in connection with the scandal.
