The Mi Express Kiosks are essentially vending machines that can be used by consumers to buy Xiaomi smartphones and accessories without having to visit a retail store or a Xiaomi outlet.

One can browse through the catalog of products available, check out the specs for each item, select the colour option and finally make the purchase.

According to the Chinese smartphone maker, all technologies equipping Mi Express Kiosks were researched and developed in India, although the concept has been around in China since 2018. Yes, Xiaomi has taken the new initiative and will soon launch across India through their vending machine dubbed as Mi Express Kiosk. It has a camera on the top which is actually a Mijia Smart Camera to capture the faces of those who make purchases. For now, the first kiosk has been inaugurated at Manyata Tech Park in Bengaluru. Along with this, there is a touch display on the right to operate the machine.

"Mi Express Kiosks serve as a highly effective new retail initiative for consumers and Mi Fans to easily access and buy Xiaomi products instantly in offline markets", the company said in a statement. The kiosk will also have a slot to print the billing receipts.

Xiaomi has its exclusive Mi Home Stores in cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, while it also has Mi Stores in rural parts of India.

Photos of the launch shared on Twitter by Xiaomi India's MD, Manu Kumar Jain, show the Mi Express Kiosk loaded with power banks, chargers, earphones, tripod selfie sticks, Bluetooth speakers, and phones from Xiaomi, POCO, and Redmi. Gradually, the same Express Kiosks will be made available to different cities as per its demands.

"These kiosks are specifically built for smartphone sales and mobile accessories of similar physical dimensions can also be added in it". The Mi Express Kiosks are especially cost-effective, as they require no salesperson or staff to be present and customers can operate the machine by themselves. This is the first time we are seeing a smartphone brand selling smartphones via vending machines in India.

Xiaomi said, it aims to set up several of these kiosks in the coming months across metro cities in public areas such as metro stations, airports, and shopping malls.
