Chinese airline demands compensation from Boeing for 737 Max grounding

The Chinese airline now has 14 Boeing 737 Max aircraft which were grounded around the world following the fatal Ethiopian Airlines plane crash on March 10.

The US was one of the last countries to ground the 737 Max in March following the Ethiopian Airlines crash.

China was the first to halt the commercial operations of all Boeing 737 Max 8 airplanes after two fatal crashes.

"Once again, corporate greed has placed profits over safety, with tragic consequences", he said.

The Shanghai-based carrier has grounded 14 MAX planes while the United States aviation giant addresses the safety risks.

The March crash came five months after 189 people were killed in a Lion Air crash in Indonesia in October 2018 that involved the same aircraft model.

Over the past two weeks, the company has held seven global conferences for airlines that operate the Max "to answer their questions and provide them with the information needed to safely return the updated Max to service, once FAA certification is complete and approval is gained from regulators around the world", the company said.
