Apex Legends Season 2 includes Titanfall 2’s L-Star weapon, Wattson the new Legend, ranked mode – out July 2

Respawn Entertainment has revealed the next legend coming to Apex Legends during its EA Play E3 press conference, and it's none other than Wattson.

The weapon will only be attainable from care packages. But we can expect to see her some time on or after July 2, which is the start date for season two.

Apex Legends' second post-launch character will release alongside the L-Star weapon with the game's next season. Natalie Paquette, aka Wattson, is an electrical engineer and scientific superstar who can drop fences all over the map to block off enemies, and erect pylons to charge allies' shields and serve as turret defences.

Wattson's passive ability, Spark of Genius, allows her to fully recharge her ultimate ability by using one ultimate accelerant. This here archived livestream has more of a look at here, as well as that Season 2 chat ending with the cryptic cryptid tease. You'll also be able to earn crafting metal. This will allow for all sorts of defensive strategies, including flank control and fencing off towers.

The battle pass is now challenge based, not timed based as the first season.

Trade your flip phone for a smartphone and win $1,000
Why, a physical map, of course, to make up for the lack of Global Positioning System in your phone. Never fear, though: Frontier is also throwing in a "survival kit" to sweeten the offer.

A new Ranked Mode will also be included, which will feature six tiers going from Bronze through to Apex Predator. The character's lore is that she and her father actually have a deep history with the arena and its formation.

There's also a couple "big things" coming to Kings Canyon during Season 2.

The new battlepass for the next season is also getting revamped based on feedback the devs got for Season 1 Battlepass, since EA feels the response was underwhelming for Season 1, as explained during the EA Play presentation on Saturday.

EA forecast in May that net bookings, or the game publisher's adjusted revenue, from Apex Legends will be in the range of $300 million to $400 million in fiscal year 2020, adding that the forecast did not assume any contribution this year from future mobile versions or games in the Chinese market.
