His niece, Chloe Arnold, told Fox News on Sunday that Wallace had fallen ill nearly immediately after having had a scotch from his hotel room's minibar.

Robert Bell Wallace, 67, died at the resort after having a single whiskey from his room's mini bar in April.

Wallace is the fourth American to die while visiting the Dominican Republic since the end of April.

Five days later, Edward Holmes, 63, and Cynthia Day, 49, were found dead in their room at the neighboring Grand Bahia Principe resort. Miranda Schaup-Werner, a Pennsylvania woman, died nearly four weeks earlier, on May 25, after she had a drink from her minibar at another hotel, the Bahia Principe La Romana.

Dominican authorities continue to investigate a third case that the victim recently made public on social media, detailing an hours-long assault by a man she said was wearing the uniform of an all-inclusive resort.

A Turlock man is one of four Americans who have mysteriously died while vacationing in the Dominican Republic in the past few months. As for Schaup-Werner, Dominican officials said she had a heart attack, but her brother-in-law, Jay McDonald, insisted she died of respiratory failure and had drank from the bar.

That connection seems like more than a coincidence to the victims' loved ones - and has led to new calls for action and even for the Federal Bureau of Investigation to step in and investigate. 'We don't want this to happen to anyone else'.

Meanwhile, Colorado couple Kaylynn Knull and Tom Schwander told CNN that they suffered from headaches, abdominal cramps and diarrhea after encountering a strong smell of chemicals in the La Romana hotel in June 2018.
