With likely cyclonic storm even intensifying into a severe cyclone, places like Jamnagar, Somnath, Porbander, Dwarka and Nailiya in Kutch would be impacted, and could even herald pre-monsoons rain across Gujarat.
The state has been put on alert after a report by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) that a depression formed over the Arabian Sea is likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm with adverse impact over Saurashtra and Kutch regions, mainly on June 13 and 14.
The IMD has issued a warning for Saurashtra and Kutch region in Gujarat which would receive a widespread rainfall and heavy to very heavy showers in isolated areas on June 13.
With the warning of a heavy rainfall in parts of Gujarat, the state government has made a decision to deploy NDRF personnel in coastal areas of Saurashtra and Kutch from Tuesday morning.
